To make Indian style naan, you will need:
1 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
6 tbsp plain yogurt
2 tbsp butter, melted
2 tbsp milk
1 egg, beaten
In a small bowl, mix together the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, yogurt, butter, milk, and egg. Mix everything together until a smooth dough forms.
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them on a floured surface. Cover them with a damp cloth and let them rest for about 15 minutes.
Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
Roll each ball of dough out into a thin circle. Grill the naan for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until it becomes puffed up and has grill marks.
Brush the grilled naan with melted butter and serve it warm.
I hope this helps!
