Here is a recipe for making delicious Indian-style samosas at home:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp amchur (dried mango) powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, add the flour, salt, and oil. Mix well.
- Slowly add water and mix to form a soft dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set aside for 30 minutes.
- In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and coriander seeds.
- When the seeds start to crackle, add the green peas and mashed potatoes.
- Add the garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, amchur powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll out each ball into a thin circle. Cut the circle into two equal halves.
- Take one half and make a cone shape. Fill the cone with the potato mixture and seal the edges with a little water. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
- Heat oil in a pan for deep frying. Gently slide the prepared samosas into the hot oil and fry until golden brown.
- Remove the samosas from the oil and drain on a paper towel. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
